At just 10 years old, Lyanna Mormont was one of the story's strongest characters. She defied all stereotypes of age and her bravery earned her the respect of everyone she met. She rose to power when most of her army was slaughtered at the Red Wedding.

Word in Westeros is that every time a Targaryen is born, the gods flip a coin, and the wheel keeps spinning. Jon Snow finally broke the wheel, and the only reason he was able to was that he was Targaryen who wasn't raised as a Targaryen.

Theon Greyjoy made a big mistake trying to prove his worth as a Greyjoy by trying to conquer Winterfell. The most sadistic character in the show, Ramsay Bolton, captured him and turned him into Reek. When Yara tried to save him, he couldn't recognize who she was.

We don't see what Qyburn was doing while working at the Citadel, but we assume he was experimenting on live humans. He eventually becomes Master of Whisperers and the Hand of the Queen, and one of his most famous experiments was resurrecting the Mountain.

One of the most shocking moments of the story is when Tyrion kills his girlfriend Shae and his father Tywin in crimes of passion. He flees Westeros and eventually teams up with Daenerys to overthrow Cersei and conquer King's Landing.

The turning point for Melisandre was the sacrifice of Shireen Baratheon. The sacrifice killed morale, literally and figuratively, and Stannis went on to get outsmarted and killed in his next battle. Shireen was one of the only characters to survive greyscale.

Robb Stark shocked most of Westeros by defeating the almighty Lannister army time and time again. He was eventually tricked, trapped and killed, but was a real threat to conquer the kingdom until that point.

As much as Daenerys might have disagreed with her brother Viserys, she named one of her dragons after him. Viserion is killed by an ice spear thrown by the Night King, turning him into an ice dragon that breathes blue fire.

Ellaria hated Cersei with a passion and risked everything to make her suffer. Myrcella died en route to King's Landing to see her mother, and her uncle, Jaime, revealed that he was really her father right before she died.
